Pastor Steve VanWyhe: Pastor of Family Life Ministries
Steve loves the Lord, the Church, his family, and to have fun. Steve has a passion to teach and preach God’s word to any age, especially the youth of Carmel Church. Steve loves the church and has a passion for the discipleship of all those who come to faith in the Lord. He thoroughly enjoys is creating experiences in worship, prayer, events and service opportunities for people to experience God. Steve graduated from Western Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in 2019.
Steve loves his family. Steve and his wife Kayla met at Northwestern College and married shortly after graduation. They have 4 kids: Carter, Gracelyn, Kyah and Jaxton. Steve enjoys spending time with his active family watching movies, playing games, disc golf, cheering on the Vikings, wrestling with the kids after a long day, family meals, and teaching them about Jesus.
Steve loves to have fun. He enjoys clean jokes, board games/card games, service projects, woodworking, golfing and telling stories.
Jane De Boer: Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper
Jane became the secretary of Carmel Reformed Church in 1989. Prior to that, she put together the monthly newsletter (HIGHLIGHTS) on a volunteer basis for eight years. In 1990, she was asked to take on the responsibilities of bookkeeper, which included paying the bills and keeping the church’s financial records. She worked out of her home until 2004, and then she moved into the office in the new church building. Jane also coordinates the use of the building and keeps the membership up-to-date. Jane has been a lifetime member of Carmel Church. She and her husband, Ken, have two married daughters and 5 grandchildren.
Stephanie Schelling: Office Assistant
Stephanie started as Office Assistant in 2019. She works with the bulletin on a weekly basis, and fills in where needed. Stephanie and her husband, Paul, have 4 children: Josie, Braylee, Kace, and Cambry. They live just outside of Middleburg where Paul owns a trucking company and farms.
Twila Renes: Custodian
Twila has been the custodian of Carmel Reformed Church since 2008. She takes care of the day-to-day cleaning and makes sure that the building is ready for various activities in the church. Twila lives near Carmel with her husband, Jerry. They have a married daughter, 3 sons, and one granddaughter. Twila also works for Cooperative Credit in Sioux Center.
